The best AI phone agents verify the caller, read the live order, start returns and hand off to your helpdesk. Ten Shopify options compared on features and price.

    Key takeaways

    • Pick an agent that verifies the caller, reads the live order and starts returns under your policy.
    • Gorgias Voice puts calls in front of your team; we found no Gorgias AI agent answering calls.
    • Entry plans for the AI agents run from $29 to $119 a month, billed by minute, conversation or outcome.
    • Test helpdesk handoffs before launch; a transfer without the transcript makes the caller start over.

What the best agents do, and which ones do it

For most Shopify stores, the best AI phone agent is one that verifies the caller, reads their live order, starts a return under your policy and hands anything else to your helpdesk with the transcript attached. Ringly, Consio, Rosie, CallFlows, Shopbot and Loop Voice all handle order status and return or exchange requests from the Shopify App Store, with entry plans from $30 to $119 a month, while Gorgias Voice is built for your human team and uses AI for call transcripts and summaries.

Loop Voice publishes this comparison and is one of the ten agents in it. Every competitor's features, price and rating come from its Shopify App Store listing or its own site, checked on October 16, 2026. Inbound support is also the newest part of Loop Voice (it shipped in July 2026), and several agents below list actions ours doesn't, such as refunds on the call.

Six things a support agent has to get right

Run every shortlisted agent through these on a test line before it answers a real customer.

    1. Order lookup with verification. The agent should read live Shopify order and tracking data and confirm who is calling first, for example an order number plus the email or phone on the order. Test it with a real order and the wrong email.
    2. The actions you allow. Decide what it may do on its own: start a return under your policy, cancel an unfulfilled order, change an address, refund. Anything outside that list should become a handoff.
    3. Handoff into your helpdesk. A transfer or ticket should land in Gorgias, Zendesk or wherever your team works, with the transcript and the order attached, so nobody asks the customer to start over.
    4. The languages your callers speak. Listings range from English and Spanish to 50+ languages; test each one you need with a native speaker on a live call.
    5. Hours and your number. Decide between after-hours only, overflow and 24/7, and check whether you can keep your existing number by forwarding it. Our guide to local and toll-free numbers covers which number to publish.
    6. A pricing unit you can forecast. Per minute, per conversation and per resolved outcome bill very differently when calls run long or callers hang up; our cost comparison with a call center shows the math.

Guardrails matter as much as actions. On a real inbound call to a health device brand, a caller asked about using the product after knee surgery, and the agent held its line: "If you haven't been cleared yet, I don't want to steer you into using strong pressure around a postsurgical knee on your own... And I can't override that on a call." The caller knew it was AI ("I do know I'm talking to an AI assistant") and still said "it was a home run."

Inbound support call flow: answer, verify the caller, read the Shopify order, then resolve in scope or hand off to the team
How an AI phone agent handles one support call: it verifies the caller and reads the live order, then resolves what is in scope or hands the rest to your team with the transcript attached.

    How each agent fits

Loop Voice comes first because it's ours; the rest follow the table's order. Every entry ends with the store it suits and the thing to check before you commit.

    1. Loop Voice

Loop Voice's inbound agent answers on the first ring and handles order status, where-is-my-order and return calls, starting the return workflow you configured. Anything it can't resolve goes to a person with the conversation attached, and the outcome syncs back to Shopify, Klaviyo and your helpdesk (Gorgias, Zendesk and Front are supported, plus ShipStation for shipping data).

You can run it after hours only or around the clock, in English and Spanish, with French and German in beta. The same agent also makes outbound calls, so a shopper who got a cart recovery call this week reaches that agent, mid-conversation, when they call back.

Pricing is per answered conversation, from $119 a month for about 80, with a free plan on the Shopify App Store; see how inbound support works and the plans. Best for: stores that want support calls and cart, upsell or win-back calls on one agent. Watch for: inbound shipped in July 2026, so it has a shorter support track record than Ringly or CallFlows, and refunds aren't among its listed actions.

    2. Ringly

Ringly's agent, Seth, answers 24/7, tracks orders, handles returns and subscription updates, gives product advice and escalates by transfer, email or helpdesk ticket, with Gorgias, Richpanel and Zendesk among its listed integrations. It speaks 40+ languages and lets you keep your current phone number and helpdesk, per its App Store listing.

Setup is free; the paid plan is $99 a month including 50 phone conversations, then $1.99 each, and spam calls, hang-ups and wrong numbers aren't charged.

Best for: stores that want a support-only phone agent with wide language coverage and per-conversation pricing. Watch for: 3 reviews so far (4.6 average), so ask for unedited sample calls. We compare the two products in more detail in Loop Voice vs Ringly.

    3. Consio

Consio's AI agent answers 24/7 with live order, product and stock context, covering order status, returns, cancellations and callback requests, while your team works the same phone hub with a power dialer and an SMS inbox. It connects to Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer, Richpanel and eDesk, per its listing, and it also runs outbound campaigns.

Plans start at $30 a month for 100 call minutes, but AI agent time is billed on top at $0.30 a minute, per Consio's pricing page, so a minute the AI handles costs about $0.40.

Best for: brands with a phone team that want AI and people on one system. Watch for: per-minute billing on long support calls. See Loop Voice vs Consio for a closer look.

    4. Gorgias Voice

Gorgias is a Shopify helpdesk rated 4.3 on the App Store, and Gorgias Voice brings phone calls into it: an IVR menu that can send callers to SMS, routing and transfers, mobile forwarding when you're offline, call recordings, and AI transcripts and summaries of calls and voicemails. Your agents see the customer's orders and past tickets while they talk.

What we didn't find on Gorgias's own pages, as of October 16, 2026, is an AI agent that answers the phone. Its pricing page sells Voice as an add-on priced by call volume, alongside helpdesk plans from $10 a month and an AI Agent billed per automated interaction, and Gorgias describes that AI Agent's tone settings for email, chat, SMS and social.

Best for: support teams that want people on the phone inside the helpdesk they already use. Pair it with: an AI phone agent that works with Gorgias, such as Ringly, Consio or Loop Voice, if you need calls answered after hours; Loop Voice vs Gorgias covers that setup.

    5. Fin Voice (Intercom)

Fin Voice is Intercom's phone agent. Its product page describes verifying identity, issuing refunds and updating records through your APIs, 30-language support, custom escalation rules and availability scheduling.

Voice is sold through Intercom's sales team at $1.99 per voice outcome, and Fin works with the Intercom helpdesk or an existing one such as Zendesk or Salesforce, per Fin's pricing page.

Best for: larger brands already on Intercom, or teams that want one AI agent across chat, email and phone. Watch for: a sales-led setup, and order actions that depend on how you connect your systems.

    6. Aircall AI Voice Agents

Aircall is a business phone system, and its Shopify app adds AI Voice Agents that handle order status, returns and FAQs after hours, pulling live Shopify data mid-call, in 38 languages with custom voices. Every AI and human call logs in Shopify, and it works with Gorgias, Zendesk and Richpanel.

AI Voice Agents are listed at $100 a month; the phone system itself starts at $120 a month for the minimum three user licenses.

Best for: teams with human phone agents that want AI to cover the evenings. Watch for: 5 reviews on this listing, and per-user licenses if you also want the phone system.

    7. Rosie

Rosie answers 24/7 with order and delivery status pulled from Shopify, and its $49 plan (250 minutes, Spanish and 10+ voices) already starts returns and cancels orders. Address changes, tracking texts and live transfer to your team arrive on the $149 Scale plan, and texted checkout links for new orders on the $299 Growth plan, per its listing.

Best for: stores swamped by where-is-my-order calls. Watch for: 4 reviews so far, and the transfer features start on the second tier.

    8. CallFlows

CallFlows answers 24/7 in 50+ languages, checks order status, inventory and tracking, explains shipping, return and exchange policies, and can refund or place an order through agent skills you enable. It handles several calls at once, transfers complex cases to staff and works with a local number it provides or your forwarded line, per its listing, which carries the Built for Shopify badge.

Basic is $39 a month for 100 minutes, then $0.19 a minute; Advanced is $119 for 450 minutes. Best for: multilingual stores that want a support agent with real actions. Watch for: no helpdesk among its named integrations, so check where transferred calls and transcripts end up.

    9. Ava AI

Ava gives you a dedicated store number that answers support calls 24/7, answers product and policy questions, looks up orders, texts tracking numbers and can edit items or process refunds while the caller is on the line. The Support plan is $29 a month for 100 minutes, then $0.10 a minute, and the $99 Recover plan adds outbound cart calls, per its listing.

Best for: small stores that want the lowest entry price with real order actions. Watch for: the listing doesn't describe a handoff to people or a helpdesk.

    10. Shopbot

Shopbot answers calls with live Shopify data for order tracking, delivery estimates, returns, exchanges and product questions, adds local numbers for each market and hands calls to your team with the transcript. It includes a free on-site chatbot, and its listing starts at $39 a month for 100 voice minutes, then $0.30 a minute.

Best for: stores selling in several countries that want a local number in each market. Watch for: 2 reviews so far, and $0.30 a minute once you pass the included minutes.

    Also on the App Store

Four more agents passed our first screen but had six reviews or fewer each when we checked. Voice Receptionist answers order-status calls only, verifies the caller and keeps Shopify access read-only, from $29 a month for 120 minutes. Kovax pairs voice with WhatsApp and adds order lookup and call transfer on its $199.99 plan, and Shopdigits puts an AI receptionist behind a store phone line your team also uses, from $49 a month. Shoplabs covers inbound support and outbound cart calls in 15+ languages on usage-based pricing.

Setup checklist for your first two weeks

Whichever agent you pick, the first two weeks decide whether customers trust it. Our full guide to setting up an AI phone agent for store support covers each step; this is the short version.

    1. Pull last month's call log, list the top call reasons and give the agent only those to start.
    2. Write the scope: what it may answer, which actions it may take, and what always goes to a person, such as refund disputes, damaged items, and legal or medical questions.
    3. Connect Shopify and your helpdesk, then check that a test transfer lands with the transcript and the order attached.
    4. Load your current return, shipping and warranty policies, and delete old versions so the agent can't quote them.
    5. Start with after-hours or overflow calls before you hand it the daytime queue.
    6. Call it yourself with ten scenarios: a routine order status call, a wrong email, an out-of-window return, an angry caller, someone who asks for a person, and each language you support.
    7. Go live and read every handoff for two weeks; each one points to a policy gap or a scope decision.
    8. Make sure the agent names your store, says it is an AI assistant when asked and never claims to be human.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I keep my store's existing phone number?

With most of these agents, yes. Ringly lets you keep your current number or use one it provides, CallFlows works with a forwarded line or a local number it supplies, and Loop Voice can import numbers from Twilio or connect your own SIP trunk. Forwarding is usually the quickest route, and you can forward only after-hours calls at first before the agent takes daytime calls.
