AI voice agents for furniture stores that explain delivery, fit and lead times

Furniture orders stall on what a product page can't talk through: the white glove fee, the stair turn, the lead time on a custom fabric. Loop Voice puts an agent on the phone with shoppers who left checkout to explain your delivery tiers, dimensions and lead times from your product data, and it never offers a code you haven't approved.

    The short answer

In a furniture store, an AI voice agent's job is to phone shoppers who stopped at checkout and answer what the product page left open: what each delivery tier includes, whether the piece fits through the door, which fabric to pick and when it will arrive. In one recorded call, white glove delivery had priced a furniture shopper out, and the agent texted her a 5% code along with the checkout link. There are no published Loop Voice results for furniture yet, so judge the calls on your own numbers.

    Where furniture orders stall

The delivery line changes the total

Threshold, room of choice, white glove with assembly: if the fee for the tier a shopper wants first appears at checkout, that's where the order gets reconsidered. On Yolanda's recorded call, it was the white glove price.

The sofa has to get through the door

Shoppers measure the room, then remember the stair turn and the hallway. Assembled dimensions don't say whether the box clears the tightest point, and a wrong guess means a return nobody wants to arrange.

Fabric on a screen isn't fabric in the room

Color and texture are doubts a photo can't settle, and sending back a sofa is a big job for both sides. A shopper who knows how to order swatches, and how long they take, has a next step instead of a closed tab.

Lead times collide with move-in dates

Made-to-order pieces can take weeks, and a shopper furnishing a new place needs to know whether the date works. The agent quotes the lead time your data lists for that fabric or finish and doesn't round it down to save the sale.

Four calls a furniture store can run

Call when delivery pricing stalls the order

Give the abandoned checkout flow a branch on cart value, with a suggested minimum from your results. A sectional is worth a call; a throw-pillow order can make do with the checkout link by text. The agent explains your delivery tiers on the first call, and the second can carry a code if you've allowed one.

Answer "when is my sofa coming?"

When an owner calls about a delivery, the agent looks up the order and reads back its status. Rescheduling requests, damage reports and missing hardware turn into tickets for your team, each with the call recording.

Call the waitlist when a colorway returns

When a sold-out fabric or finish comes back, call the shoppers who asked to hear: through a flow started by added to list or a custom event, or a campaign to a segment of them in Shopify or Klaviyo. Update the lead time first, so the agent quotes the current one.

Check the delivery a few days later

Time the wait after order fulfilled so the call lands a few days after the piece arrives. The agent asks two or three questions: did it arrive undamaged, is anything missing, how did assembly go. Problems become a ticket while the packaging is still in the garage.

White glove delivery had priced Yolanda out at checkout. In this clip the agent confirms it has texted her the 5% code, with the checkout link again, and asks whether she needs anything else. She says she's "very, very impressed" with the AI service, and the agent thanks her and acknowledges the delivery price didn't work out that day.
    AI agent

Done. I just texted you the code COMEBACK-5 for 5% off, and I included that checkout link again too. Anything else you want me to double check for you before I let you go?

    Shopper

No. That... that's it. You know, I have to say I'm very, very impressed with your AI service. Very impressed. Very, very good.

    AI agent

I really appreciate you saying that, Yolanda. Glad I could help, even if the delivery price didn't work out today. If you need anything later, just reply to that text or hop back on the checkout link. Take care.

    Shopper

You do the same. Thank you.

Furniture objections the agent hears, and its answers

    What shoppers say

“Delivery costs almost as much as the chair.”

    How the agent answers

It explains what each delivery tier includes, from your shipping policy, and whether a cheaper tier is available for that item. If you've allowed a code for the second call, it offers that code and spells it out; it never makes one up.

    What shoppers say

“Will it fit up a narrow staircase?”

    How the agent answers

It reads the assembled and boxed dimensions from your product data and asks about the tightest point: the door, the stair turn, the hallway. If the numbers don't settle it, it says so and points to your measuring guide.

    What shoppers say

“I need to see the fabric first.”

    How the agent answers

It explains your swatch process and how long it takes, if your knowledge base covers it, then checks whether the lead time for that fabric still works afterward.

    What shoppers say

“What if it shows up damaged?”

    How the agent answers

It reads your inspection and claims steps, such as noting damage before the delivery team leaves. For an order already delivered, it opens a ticket with the recording so your team can act.

    What shoppers say

“Is this dresser safe with a toddler?”

    How the agent answers

It repeats what your product data says about the tip-over standard and wall anchoring, and it never suggests the anchor can be skipped.

Set it up for a furniture store

    1. Connect Shopify from the App Store, or install the WooCommerce plugin and paste a connect token. On WooCommerce, a cart reaches Loop Voice once the shopper has typed an email or phone at checkout and gone idle for the set time, 60 minutes by default.

    2. Put what shoppers ask into the knowledge base: assembled and boxed dimensions, number of boxes, each delivery tier and what it includes, lead times by fabric or finish, swatch ordering, assembly, and return and restocking terms.

    3. In the abandoned checkout flow, branch on cart value, then pick the Shopify discount code the second call may offer, or none. You decide which discounts are allowed and their maximum value.

    4. Send damage reports, rescheduling requests and custom-order questions to your team as tickets, in Loop Voice and in your helpdesk: Gorgias, Zendesk or a support inbox. Then turn on transfer so a buyer weighing a custom piece can reach a person during support hours.

    5. Before launch, read our calling rules guide on the written consent AI calls need. Loop Voice dials only inside your calling window, set to each shopper's local time, and anyone who says "don't call me" is added to the do-not-contact list right away.

    6. Write a simulator customer who lives in a third-floor walk-up and loves the sectional but not the delivery fee, and run the rushed customer persona too. After launch, read the QA notes for delivery objections and ask Loop IQ which ones repeat.

Rules that shape what the agent says

    • Free-standing dressers, chests, bureaus and armoires that stand 27 inches or taller, weigh 30 pounds or more and hold at least 3.2 cubic feet of enclosed storage must meet CPSC's clothing storage unit standard, adopted under the STURDY Act, if they were made after September 1, 2023. Have the agent describe compliance only in your product data's words.
    • The FTC's Mail Order Rule covers phone and online orders. Quote a ship time only if you have a reasonable basis for it; with no time quoted, the basis has to cover shipping within 30 days. If you can't ship on time, you must tell the buyer and let them choose between the delay and cancelling for a prompt refund. Every lead time in the knowledge base is a promise the agent will repeat.
    • When a delayed order is cancelled, the same rule sets the refund clock: seven working days for most payment methods, or one billing cycle for credit you extended yourself. Have the agent explain your cancellation steps and pass the request to your team rather than promise a refund date itself.

    Questions

Can the agent explain white glove delivery versus curbside drop-off?

Yes, from your shipping policy: what each tier includes, such as room of choice, assembly and packaging removal, and what it costs for that item. Write the terms the way you want them said. If a tier isn't in the policy, the agent admits it isn't sure instead of filling the gap, as long as the never hallucinate guardrail stays on.

Should the agent offer a discount when the delivery fee is the problem?

Offer a cheaper delivery tier first if you have one, since it keeps your margin on the piece. If you allow a code, put it on the second call and run an A/B test with and without it before it becomes the default.

What happens when a buyer calls to move their delivery date?

The agent can look up the order and read its status, but Loop Voice doesn't document a way for it to book or move delivery appointments, so the request goes to your team: as a transfer during support hours, with your teammate briefed first, or as a ticket outside them.

Does an AI agent work for made-to-order furniture?

Yes, if your options and lead times are in its knowledge base. It quotes the lead time for the fabric or finish in the cart, explains your cancellation terms for custom pieces, and leaves anything bespoke to your team.

What should a furniture store track once calls go live?

Three numbers: answer rate, orders attributed to calls within your attribution window, and how often delivery comes up as the objection in each call's QA notes. Loop Voice's September 2026 benchmark doesn't report results by vertical yet, so your own store is the baseline.
