Loop Voice vs Vapi
Vapi gives developers the parts of a voice agent: real-time voice orchestration, a choice of speech, language and voice providers at cost, outbound campaigns, squads of assistants and testing tools. Loop Voice is a finished product for online stores, with Shopify events, texts, consent rules and order attribution already in place.

The short answer
Vapi is the platform developers build voice agents on: you pick the speech, language and voice models, bring a phone carrier and pay a $0.05 hosting fee per minute plus each provider at cost. Loop Voice is the finished ecommerce agent. Pick Vapi if your engineers will build and run the agent and want every choice in their hands. Pick Loop Voice if you want store calls live without the build.

Four ecommerce jobs, side by side
What each one does out of the box for the four jobs most stores buy voice agents for.
Loop Voice
IncludedCalls from the abandoned-checkout event after the delay you set (10 minutes in the default flow), with the cart in hand. Texts the checkout link, offers only the discount codes you allow and stops when the order comes in.
Vapi
Build it yourselfCampaigns and the call API place the calls, and a pre-dial webhook can skip shoppers who already ordered. You build the Shopify trigger, the cart lookup, the follow-up text and the order matching. A campaign runs once and doesn't redial unanswered calls.
Loop Voice
IncludedCalls in the window you set after an order, with one add-on that fits what was bought, such as a refill, a bundle or a warranty.
Vapi
Build it yourselfSame approach from order events, with your own offer logic.
Loop Voice
IncludedCalls customers who haven't ordered in 60, 90 or 180 days (you pick the window), opens with their last order and adapts the comeback offer to what they say.
Vapi
Build it yourselfUpload up to 10,000 lapsed customers per campaign, with their details as variables. Matching calls to new orders is up to you.
Loop Voice
IncludedAnswers 24/7 on the first ring: order status, returns, exchanges, sizing and shipping. What it can't resolve becomes a ticket with the transcript and order attached.
Vapi
Build it yourselfVapi handles inbound calls at scale. Order status and returns need tools you connect to your store and helpdesk.

How each one gets better after launch
Loop Voice
Loop Voice runs the improvement loop for you, scored on store revenue. Agents start from templates for sales, support and abandoned cart, with a prompt score calibrated on real calls and the orders they produced. Before launch, the Simulator plays your agent against six AI shoppers, from a ready buyer to one who suspects it's a robot, and scores each call without dialing anyone. After launch, you can split traffic between two agents and Loop Voice promotes the one with more revenue per call. LoopIQ learns from every call and each week names the one change worth making, such as holding the discount until minute two or calling sooner after checkout, and nothing changes until you approve it.
Vapi
Vapi has some of the deepest testing tools of any platform: Evals, Simulations with AI testers that can block a release, an API that suggests prompt and tool changes from a run, monitoring that flags issues, and traffic splitting between versions. Your engineers decide what to test, read the results and apply the changes. Revenue per call isn't something it can see unless you send order data back.
When Vapi is the better pick
- Your engineers want to choose every provider and own the code.
- You're building agents beyond your store, or need a language outside Loop Voice's English, Spanish and 30 more.
- You expect tens of thousands of calls a month and want the lowest cost per minute.
- You want simulation tests in your release pipeline, gated on pass rates.
When Loop Voice is the better pick
- You want store calls live in under 10 minutes without engineering.
- You want texts with the checkout link, opt-out handling and quiet hours already built.
- You want flows that wait, call again, text in between and stop when the shopper orders.
- You want revenue per call tracked and the improvement loop run for you.
How pricing compares
Vapi charges $0.05 a minute for hosting and passes speech, language model and voice costs through at cost; its calculator puts 1,000 minutes at about $82 to $129 on free Vapi telephony. Outbound calls need your own carrier number, such as Twilio at $0.014 a minute. Without a package you get 4 concurrent calls and 14 days of data; Core adds 10 calls and 30 days for $29 a month, and HIPAA is $2,000 a month. Loop Voice works out to about $0.95 to $1.49 per answered conversation, with the store layer included.
Example: 5,000 minutes a month (1,000 answered conversations at 4 minutes, plus a minute of voicemail each) comes to roughly $480 to $715 on Vapi with Twilio, using Vapi's own calculator range. Loop Voice's Scale plan covers about 1,000 answered conversations for $975. The difference has to pay for the engineers who build and maintain the Shopify, texting, consent and attribution layer; our build or buy guide runs the numbers.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Loop Voice a Vapi alternative for ecommerce?
- For store calls, yes. Vapi is a developer platform you build an agent on. Loop Voice is the finished ecommerce agent, with abandoned checkout, upsell, win-back and support calls ready to run.
- Does Vapi integrate with Shopify?
- Not natively. Its docs list integrations such as Make, n8n and GoHighLevel, and a sample order-management squad with placeholder tools. You connect Shopify yourself.
- Does Loop Voice work with Vapi?
- Yes. Loop Voice integrates with Vapi, so you can use Vapi's voices and platform for your calls, as one option next to other providers and Loop Voice's own stack. Either way, Loop Voice adds the store layer: triggers, cart and order data, texts, compliance rules, attribution and the improvement loop.
- Which costs less?
- Per minute, Vapi. In the example in our build or buy guide, building on a platform only pays off above roughly 13,600 answered calls a month, because someone has to build and run the store layer.
- Can Vapi campaigns redial shoppers who didn't answer?
- Vapi's campaign docs describe retries only while waiting for free call capacity, and a campaign runs once. In Loop Voice, a flow can wait, call again, text in between and stop when the order comes in.
