Best Abandoned Cart Recovery Apps for Shopify (2026)
Start with Shopify Messaging or Klaviyo email, add SMS, push or WhatsApp for opted-in shoppers, and call only carts worth a conversation. 11 apps compared.

Key takeaways
- Shopify Messaging's abandoned checkout emails don't count toward your sends, so the first email costs nothing extra.
- In Klaviyo's 2026 benchmark, cart emails earned $6.77 per recipient and texts $4.48, though texts got more clicks.
- Postscript and TxtCart set $49 and $29 monthly minimums, so SMS needs enough opted-in subscribers to pay.
- Calls suit carts of $50 or more with real questions; Loop Voice, which publishes this list, has a free plan and paid plans from $119.
Start with email, then add the channel your shoppers answer
Most Shopify stores should send an abandoned checkout email first (Shopify's built-in Messaging app does it at no extra cost, and Klaviyo and Omnisend have free tiers), add SMS, web push or WhatsApp for shoppers who opted in, and save phone calls for carts worth a conversation. Email still earns the most per recipient: in Klaviyo's 2026 abandoned cart benchmarks, cart emails averaged $6.77 in revenue per recipient against $4.48 for texts, even though texts drew more clicks (10.3% vs 6%).
Loop Voice publishes this list and is one of the 11 apps on it, as the phone-call option. Prices, ratings and review counts come from each app's Shopify App Store listing, checked on October 16, 2026, and each app is matched to the job it does best, including jobs it does better than we do.
We started from the tools merchants compare most often for cart recovery, then went through the App Store's abandoned cart category for anything we had missed. Apps are grouped by channel because that is the first decision you make.

A rating built on fewer than 20 reviews can swing with a single new one, so treat it as a reason to read the reviews rather than a verdict. That includes ours.

Email: the baseline every store needs
Email reaches every shopper who typed an address at checkout, costs fractions of a cent per send and earns the most per recipient in Klaviyo's data. Pick one email app to own the cart flow, then build the other channels around it.
1. Shopify Messaging (built in)
Shopify's own messaging app is free to install, and its App Store listing shows the first 10,000 emails each month free, then from $1 per 1,000. The cart email itself costs nothing extra: Shopify's help center says abandoned checkout automation emails don't count toward your sends.
For the setup, see our stage-by-stage guide to finding and recovering abandoned checkouts in Shopify.
Best for: every store, as the first recovery email. Skip it if Klaviyo or Omnisend already runs your cart flow; running both sends shoppers the same reminder twice.
2. Klaviyo
Klaviyo is the usual next step once your list grows: one platform for email, SMS, WhatsApp and push, with segments built on your Shopify data. Its App Store listing includes a guided setup for new stores that builds an abandoned checkout flow, a free plan for up to 250 contacts and 150 SMS credits, Email from $20 a month and SMS from $15 a month.
Klaviyo's benchmark report doubles as a target for your own flow: the top 10% of brands earn $13.70 per recipient from cart emails and $8.69 from cart texts. If you plan to add calls on top, read how to run phone calls alongside a Klaviyo cart flow.
Best for: growing brands that want email and SMS in one flow with shared segments. Watch for: pricing that rises with your contact count, so clean out subscribers who never engage.
3. Omnisend
Omnisend's free plan already automates abandoned cart and welcome emails for up to 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, with 24/7 live support. Standard costs $16 a month for up to 500 contacts, 6,000 emails and unlimited web push, and its Shopify listing shows SMS on the $59 Pro plan, from $0.007 a message.
Best for: small stores that want cart emails and push now and SMS later, without paying until the list grows. Watch for: the free plan stops at 500 emails a month.
SMS: more clicks, fewer shoppers you can reach
Cart texts get clicked more often than cart emails, but they only reach shoppers who gave a phone number and agreed to marketing texts, so they sit on top of email rather than replace it. Before you text anyone, read our guide to consent and calling rules; US senders on a local number also need A2P 10DLC registration.
4. Postscript
Postscript is built for brands that run SMS as a main revenue channel, with campaigns, flows, two-way messaging and AI features for on-brand copy and testing. Its Starter plan has a $49 monthly minimum spend, then $0.009 per SMS and $0.045 per MMS plus carrier fees; Growth ($100 a month) and Professional ($500) lower the per-message rate and add support.
Best for: brands with a large opted-in SMS list. Watch for: the $49 minimum still applies in a slow month.
5. TxtCart
TxtCart's AI agent texts back: it answers questions, handles objections and recommends products over two-way SMS, and its flows cover welcome, browse, abandoned cart and win-back messages. Per its App Store listing, Starter is free to install with a $29 monthly minimum plus message and carrier fees, the AI agent costs $0.99 per resolution, and Growth is $99 a month.
Best for: stores that want cart texts to answer questions without someone watching an inbox. Watch for: AI resolutions are billed on top of messages.
6. Recart
Recart runs the SMS program for you, with a dedicated customer success manager, popups, flows and AI-written campaigns. Its listing shows a free plan with no platform fees and a $299-a-month Starter plan that adds advanced segmentation, international texting and one-to-one strategy support.
Recart counts revenue with click-only attribution, so its numbers can look smaller than tools that also credit opens. That is a stricter count, not necessarily a weaker result.
Best for: brands that want an expert to run SMS. Watch for: the managed features sit on the $299 plan.
7. CartBoss
CartBoss does one job: automated cart reminder texts in the shopper's language, with real-time discount codes and checkout forms that fill themselves in when the shopper taps through. There is no monthly fee; you pay per text message.
Best for: stores selling in several countries that want cart texts and nothing else. Watch for: a 3.1 rating from 9 reviews, the lowest on this list, so read them before you install.
8. vyg.ai (LiveRecover)
vyg.ai, the app LiveRecover publishes, adds live agents to SMS cart recovery, so a shopper who replies with a question gets an answer from a person. Growth costs $199 a month plus 10% of the revenue it generates and Pro is $499 plus 5%, with a 30-day free trial, per its App Store listing.
Best for: high-ticket stores whose shoppers reply with questions. Watch for: the revenue share grows as recovery grows, so compare it with flat-fee tools at your volume.
Web push and WhatsApp
Both channels need their own opt-in: a browser permission for push, and a WhatsApp opt-in for messages. Neither needs the shopper to open an inbox.
9. Brevo PushOwl
PushOwl sends browser notifications to shoppers who clicked Allow on your site, alongside email and SMS through Brevo. The free plan includes 500 pushes a month, but its listing puts abandoned cart automation on the Plus plan at $19 a month, with 10,000 pushes.
Best for: a cheap extra reminder for push subscribers. Watch for: push only reaches people who allowed notifications in that browser.
10. Dondy
Dondy recovers carts over the WhatsApp Business API and adds campaigns, an AI chatbot and a shared inbox, and it carries Shopify's Built for Shopify badge. Automated recovery starts on the Power Automation plan at $79.99 a month, with US WhatsApp rates from $0.0158 a message; the $6.99 Pro plan covers manual recovery only, per its listing.
Best for: stores whose customers prefer WhatsApp to email. Watch for: message rates on top of the plan fee.
Phone calls: for carts worth a conversation
A call is the most expensive touch on this list and the most direct one: the shopper asks a question out loud, hears the answer and can finish checkout while the agent is still on the line.
11. Loop Voice
Loop Voice phones shoppers who abandon checkout, by default ten minutes after they leave, answers whatever stopped them and texts the checkout link during or after the call. The agent names the store at the start of the call, never claims to be human, offers your approved discount only when price is the objection, and stops when the shopper orders, says stop or is on your do-not-contact list.
Credits are used only when someone picks up, about 1.5 per answered conversation, which works out to roughly $1.49 per conversation on the $119 Starter plan (about 80 answered conversations a month). There is also a free plan on the Shopify App Store; compare plans and credits.
Okay, sandy soil drains fast, so the fix is usually slower, deeper watering, and a mulch layer to hold moisture. If you do those two things right after planting, it makes a huge difference. Want to go ahead and place the order for the four plants with the loop 10 code?
I'll do that online.
Perfect. Use the code loop10 at checkout for 10% off. Do you want me to text you a direct link back to your cart so you can finish faster?
Sure.
One sec, texting that over to you. Cool, you should have that cart link now. Want me to stay on the line while you check out or are you all set?
Our own pricing page is blunt about fit: calls work best for stores with a $50+ average order value, 100+ abandoned carts a month and mostly US customers, and it puts the minimum at roughly 50 to 100 abandoned carts a month. Modern Hearing, a hearing aid store, has recovered $300,000+ with 11% of calls becoming a sale, and you can listen to real recovery calls before deciding.

Best for: considered purchases, such as health devices or high-ticket gear, where shoppers have questions before they pay. Watch for: calls need consent just as texts do, and our calling rules guide covers it. For other calling apps, see our comparison of apps that call abandoned carts.
Three more worth a look
These missed the main list but fit specific setups. Figures are from their Shopify App Store listings as of October 2026.
- Attentive (4.7 from 112 reviews): AI-led SMS and email with expert strategy help, priced by agreement after a minimum 30-day free trial.
- Privy (4.5 from 4,205 reviews): popups, email and cart saver texts in one app, from $24 a month for popups or $45 for email and SMS.
- CK: Abandoned cart on WhatsApp (5.0 from 297 reviews): a lower-cost WhatsApp option, with automated recovery from $9.99 a month plus message rates from $0.02.
How to choose by store size and order value
Two numbers decide most of this: how many checkouts you lose each month and what an order is worth. Here is how we would stack the apps.
| Your store | Start with | Add next |
|---|---|---|
| Under 50 abandoned checkouts a month | Shopify Messaging's cart email | A discount test inside that email |
| 50 to 500 a month, average order under $50 | A Klaviyo or Omnisend cart flow | SMS (TxtCart, Postscript) or push (PushOwl) for opted-in shoppers |
| 100+ a month, average order of $50 or more, mostly US shoppers | Email plus SMS | Calls to carts with open questions (Loop Voice) |
| Most shoppers outside the US | Email in their language | WhatsApp (Dondy) or multilingual SMS (CartBoss) |
| High-ticket orders, small team | Live-agent texts (vyg.ai) or calls (Loop Voice) |
Example: on Loop Voice's $119 Starter plan, a store with a $150 average order and a 40% gross margin keeps $60 per recovered order, so two recovered orders cover the plan. At a $30 average order and the same margin, it takes about ten. The same math applies to Postscript's $49 minimum: one recovered $150 order covers it, or about four $30 orders.
Run that break-even check before you look at ratings. A 4.9-star app still loses money if your volume can't clear its minimum.
Three setup mistakes that skew the comparison
- Two apps sending one reminder. Shopify Messaging's cart email is easy to leave on after you install Klaviyo or Omnisend. Turn one off, then run a test checkout and confirm only one message arrives.
- Messages after the order. Every channel should stop the moment the shopper buys. Place a test order between steps and check that nothing else goes out; our guide to running email, SMS and calls together covers the stop rules.
- Comparing different attribution rules. Recart counts only clicks, while other tools may also credit opens, so the same week can produce very different revenue reports. Hold back a random slice of carts from messaging for a few weeks, as in our holdout test guide, to see what each app actually adds.
Frequently asked questions
Can recovery apps reach shoppers who left before typing an email?
Not through Shopify's abandoned checkout list. Shopify only treats a checkout as abandoned after the shopper enters an email and leaves it incomplete for more than ten minutes, so apps that trigger on that event never see shoppers who left earlier. Web push can still reach visitors who allowed browser notifications, and signup popups that collect an email or phone number before checkout widen the pool you can recover.
